The Perfect Ice Coffee for your 4th of July Parades

Summer is in full swing, and Friday is our Country’s Independence Day!

Coffee? …Don’t forget the coffee! Whether it's a steaming cup before the parade, an iced coffee drink during a picnic, or a cup of decaf with the fireworks display on your front lawn, the 4th of July is a great time for coffee. That’s why we’re featuring coffees this month that are not only good brewed hot, but are fantastic brewed cold.

The Coffee of the Month for July is the smooth, rich and creamy Summer Ice. It tastes of blueberry topnotes, honey and praline sweetness, nutty richness and a lingering sweet cocoa finish. Try a batch of Cold Brew for a low acid coffee that’s richer and sweeter with a full body and smooth mouthfeel. Summer Ice will be available all month in both Full and 1/2 roast bags.

July’s Exploration Coffee is Mexico Veracruz Geisha. A treat from the highlands of Veracruz. Lively, sweet and balanced, this naturally processed Gesha features very lively white wine topnotes, the flavor of ripe persimmon with chocolate richness and a sugary sweetness that melts into a clean, sweet finish. Roaster's Choice: We think of July as Cold Brew month, and we prefer the Mexico Geisha at a Vienna roast for Cold Brew. The darker roast level brings out the coffee's chocolate richness and really highlights its sugary sweetness. Yum! Available all month in Full and 1/2 roast bags.

For those who want to drink coffee all day- but don’t want the caffeine we recommend you try your cold brew from July’s Featured Decaf Coffee: Decaf Cafe Mokha Java 2000. This is a modern, decaffeinated, take on the original coffee blend that made coffee famous. Very bright, intensely flavored African and full-bodied Indonesian coffees combine to create a big-flavored, complex blend that's truly a taste of history of 21st century coffee shops.

If you enjoy iced coffee, especially in the hot summer months, try making your own Cold Brew. All you need is coarse ground coffee, a container to steep it in and some time.
